So i put in a wanted to buy ad on craigslist and got a few replys.
I went and paid in full $260 for a Starcraft Holiday 14". Included is a solid trailer and the nice guy is delivering the boat to me this week !

I don't know the model year but the ID plate says Holiday 14'. The plates are clear so i hope you guys can tell me what year i have. I THINK its a 1978 as the brochures show my 14' as white with blue stripe across side, with blue interior.

ONE THING .. it does NOT have the starboard cast aluminum transom plate.

I could easily have one fab'd up but i MUST have original .. ANY IDEAS ?

been lookin online and calling during lunch all day today .. so far . NOTHING ...

HELP !

pics to come when she is delivered . have some cell phone pics but they suck !

CELL PHONE PICS THAT SUCK .... i warned you ... much mor detailed pics to come once boat is delivered this week.

SCROLL DOWN TO ADDITIONAL POSTS below for more pics. I'm limited to 6 pictures per thread. Sorry.

Unmolested in all her glory.. keeping exact paint scheme for restore .

missing starboard transom cap. DANG IT !!
0813001257.jpg

left side cap in place .. barely hanging on .. it came off on initial inspection. The transom is PURE mush...
0813001257a.jpg

transom pics .. pure mush .. motor and cables do not come with boat. good thing .. and splash well looks intact and undamaged.

obviously i'll need a new transom cap. going to either make or have made with thicker guage aluminum, but not overly thick. just NICE thick.

Well you certainly got a good deal on her, congrats:)

As far as the corner brackets go, there was a guy in upstate NY that was selling all sorts of random parts for Starcraft aluminum boats. I think he has some corner pieces for sale. Not sure how to find him other than using crazedlist.org or scanning the NY craigslist.

Good luck, and we are looking forward to some photos.

Well...it's been 5 hours since your first post. Hasn't it arrived yet and haven't you taken any pics yet?

I know, just like my mom and dad said, "Be Patient."

Looking forward to seeing the new purchase. Welcome to the Starmada. :)

those are actually some pretty good pix. and yeah, even with the pudding-for-transom, you got a buy there! with some concerted work, you could have it usable by end of summer.

That's a super cool little boat! I didn't realize they made the little Holiday model that late but based on the stickers, paint job, and what not, I'd agree with it being a late 70's model. Welcome to the Starmada!

I agree with Dalton, that # stamped on the transom indicates it's a 1977. The paint scheme is the same as my '79, they used that style from '76-'80 I think. I wanted a '77 too, since I was born that year also.:)

I love the little Holidays, I nearly bought a '75 15ft Holiday last year myself.

Gotta love the sweet mini splashwell, gives you lots of room in the stern for gear and fishing.:D

1977??! stop it, y'all are making me feel as old as i am. :(

but i understand, the one guitar i may never sell is the old Gibson that was built the same year i was.

Ho, i'll join ya for a virtual beer and lamentations about our bodily aches & pains. it DOES give us a good excuse for why our resto's don't proceed as fast as those of them able young studs......

Re: Purchased : Starcraft Holiday 14' !! NOW CRAPPY Cell pics !

Anyone care to advise how much power is SAFE power for this boat ?
Of course i'll be replacing the whole transom but .. is 40hp to much for a couple fat asses and some gear ? I'm 6'6" and about 225 .. maybe another bud a little lighter and some gear ..

40 ok ? .. I'm gonna say 25 may not be enough .. And 50hp may be overkill and extra weight ? .. I won't necessarily be going period to the boat .. so 80s' to 90's johnson or evinrudes would be fine ..

Thanks

Ive got a 40hp on my 14ft Falcon and its rated for a 40hp. And Ive got a few pounds on you. It gets up and planes nice with me and another couple hundred pounds of people in the boat. I think a 40 would do just fine for you.
