Re: Battery Drains While Boat Sits
I would re-check what you did already...everything before the big red plug. Basically, if you thought that one of your ignition components were doing something funky, you are taking all of that out of the equation.. if you go through all the checks again and find that nothing is drainig then you know that its on the other side of the plug.
keep in mind, the big red wire from the battery runs to the engine as well as the black. if you use your test light you will see 12 volts or the light will go on across the two as if you were at the battery. your last few posts about the starter coil didnt sound right becasue the coil engages when you turn the key..and tthe starter engages after that turning the engine, so there is no way that it was causung anything.
from your battery you should have a wire to the engine and then a smaller wire to feed your accessories, bilge, radio etc.. if your bilge is quite you may not hear it and it still could be on..or if it has a float it too could be keeping it on. If you have a radio that displays time it is taking battery power. so again go through all of it
if you cant find it..try installing a battery switch that you can turn off when you are done using the boat. this will ensure nothing is running. you can also hotwire the bilge pump to run independant in the event you get water in the boat..if you dont oull the drain plug.
