Hi new here but I have a problem I need input on.
I have a 1977 898 mercruiser that ran but died like the key was turned off, I replaced the coil, plugs an wires, condensor, points, rotor button an cap look new.
I'm at my wits end trying to figure out something else to try an get fire and get her running again.
If anyone has a link to a free downloadable manual for this I'd appreciate any help, thanx guys.

Three things to check:
1) Is there voltage to the + side of the coil?....
If yes, then:
2) Make sure the shift interrupt switch is not stuck....
If not:
3)Disconnect the tach wire lead from the - side of the coil......
Hope this helps.....
Welcome to iboats, BTW........:)

Re: No- Spark

Are you troubleshooting or shot-gunning?

Troubleshooting is when you have tools and meters and you find a problem and replace the faulty item, or correct the adjustment.

Shot-gunning is when you spend heaps of money and just keep throwing parts at it in the vain hope that it will fix the problem....

Have you taken a meter and checked for voltage at the key, coil, points, etc?
