I have a 1994 (17') Maxum with an inoperational gas guage. How do I tell if the sending unit needs to be changed or if there is a different problem? If it is the sending unit, which one is the correct replacement? I don't want to get stranded some where.

Re: Fuel Sender????

If you jumper the sender 'hot' wire to the ground wire, your gauge should read FULL and if you remove the hot wire from the sender, it should read EMPTY.

Fuel senders are (apparently) standardized and any sender should fit and work. (Just replaced one in a 1966 boat, off the shelf, after market, for $20)

That's a great test. Thanks for the info. I'll try that out. I saw that there are different length sensors though. I guess I would just measure the depth of the tank?
