I have a 1973 6hp evinrude it has a plastic prop and it broke today. I was wondering what prop to get the old one is 7 and a quater pitch metal if it is available. Its on a 13 aluminum lowe jon boat

It came with an 8 X 7 1/4. A 3 blade will generally have slightly better overall performance.

If you want to buy used try ebay just be sure to check feedback,transaction total some are in the 1,000s.Ask for condition details.I got my 55 5hp gale prop on ebay In the course of detail Qs the seller assured that if not as described I could return.69-79 props are the same.You might check your local swap sheet,craigs list etc.A prop shop may have a used one or one that wasn't picked up.
