Hello,

Looked at a boat with a 1997 Johnson Ocean Runner and all 6 cylinders were ~90psi.

While they were fairly even, I thought that 90 is on the lower end of the scale.

The owner claimed his mechanic said 90psi is as high as they get.

Since he bought it from his mechanic as a "fresh rebuild", it would be nice to hear others chime in.

I'm guessing he's got a decent used motor.

Thanks!!

90 is goood!!!:D The engine will build compression as it runs as the compression idle relief hole drops reading 10psi. I myself plug them if customer requests it and pressure will be around 100psi. My engine V-6 has 125 psi cranking:D:D:D

There are quite a number of threads on this subject. Try using the search function and "225HP Compression"
