Tahoe Q5 - Package Weight?

Hi There,

I hope someone can help me I have been searching the internet calling dealers to try and get a sense for Pacakage weight on a 2008 Tahoe Q5i - sport / fish. We are considering pulling with a Rav4 - V6 but worried that it might be too much for us to handle. The towing capacity of the Rav4 is 3500lbs, but we can't seem to find the weight of the total weight of the boat. Opinions seem to range from 2800 to 3500, I am hoping that someone on this forum who owns one can tell me.

According to these specs

2722 lbs dry weight
125 lbs of fuel (23 gal)
500-650 lbs (est weight of a single axle trailer with brakes)

So you're looking at around 33500lbs - 3500lbs if you don't have any additional gear in the boat.

You MUST consider the wheelbase of towing vehicle. Just because it says it can tow xxxxlbs doesn't mean it control the trailer if it starts to fishtail behind you. Research forums on what others have towed with a rav-4.

Thanks for the information, I will keep searching. The Rav is a V6 4x4 I will have to check out the wheelbase. I found a listing for a 2004 Q4 almost identical specs as the Q5i and the dry weight was only 2232 also called a local marina that sells Tahoe and he told me there was no way the boat weighs 2700 lbs on it's own. I am going to call Tahoe tomorrow and find out for certain. Thanks for you help.

According to Tahoe the 2010 version also weighs 2722

I followed oldjeep's link and compared the Q4 and Q5. The Q5 is over a foot longer than the Q4, has a heavier motor (6 cyl vs. 4). and a longer (meaning heavier) trailer. It isn't rocket science. There's a 500 lb. difference between the two packages. Wishful thinking won't change it.

Thanks perhaps it is just wishful thinking....

After reviewing the Tahoe Runabout boat specs....package weight 2719...weight with engine 2722 ?!? perhaps this newbie is just a dumb dumb.

Something tells me there is an error in the numbers somewhere.
I know that they re-branded the 19.5 Q4SF to a Q5 in 2006 or 2007

Most of the references on the internet show the Q4SF lower in weight despite the specs being almost the same as the Q5.
