with a Merc 60 4-stroke.
GPS verified?

By yourself? Weight?

With others?

What prop?

I'm looking at 1 and I'm told by the owner he hits mid 20s only. Dont know his weight, but i'm only 160lbs. It's an 06 model if that matters.

*edit*
It's a 05 afterall. With 05 motor.

*update after almost a year*
With a Black Max 10 5/8 x 12 P prop, top end, I'm hitting 31.6 MPG GPS. RPM is right at 5900 on console.

On smooth glass water, I can hit 34 MPH GPS.

2 people with ~12 gallons of gas and 2 batteries.

Re: How Fast Are You Guys On FM165?

My FM165 has a 50 HP two stroke. I have checked the speedometer against a GPS and they agree.

With about 350 lbs of people on the boat (me and my son), I get 30 mph with a 14 pitch prop and 29 mph with a 13 pitch prop. The 13 pitch prop gives better all around performance, with essentially no breakout while cornering. breakout is a problem with 14 and higher prop pitches.

If the owner is getting 20 mph at full throttle, there's either a problem with the prop used, the motor or there is water in the bilge that needs to be pumped out.

Cheers, Gary

I get 32mph with my wife and I and a full tank of fuel...will hit 34 if I trim it right out and the lake is super calm, no wind. I'm using a 12P prop, Black Max. Originally had a 15P which was completely wrong. I've posted some info a out it in the threads below.

Now that's movin! I feel a bit uneasy at 34mph, trimmed out to max. 40mph must feel real scary. I should have gotten a 75hp lol...

Actually its so smooth and stable its very comfortable at speed. The hull design keeps the boat very planted instead of riding up on top. Unfortunately not riding up on a pad does rob top end speed, i"ll take the trade-off for the stability.

Agreed. Boat is rock solid stable. One of these days I'm going to give Lake Ontario a go. It's only 10 minutes from me. I live near Toronto. We have great Salmon fishing right nearby. Need some downriggers though. Have to watch it though, water can get real rough, real fast.

I can get between 24 and 28 mph depending on load and elevation. My boat has the 50 hp two stroke and came with a 15 p prop which was terrible. Since I fish some lakes that are around 8000 ft elevation, I went with a 11 p prop to get my rpms up and it worked out perfect. While fishing in Saskatchawan last summer I was able to get up on plane quickly and my max rpms were just right with 3 of us in the boat with all of our gear.

I just sold my 2008 FM165 with a Merc 60 hp 4 stroke. Best I ever got was 32 at 5800 rpm. I agree with others boat was very stable and I also had blowout problems while turning. Trimming down solved this but robbed top end. I loved this little boat and have no complaints. It could have used a bigger livewell with pump out, but I knew that going in. I only sold mine because I needed something bigger. My new Tracker Targa V18 WT with a 150 Opti has some big shoes to fill.
