will 4.3 omc cobra outdrive fit the 5.0?

I got a 87 bayliner 22ft with 5.0 and i need a new outdrive. The one that was on it is trash, shattered housing. All i can seem to find is 4.3's. and very expansive in 3k range rebuilt and 2k used. Which i find ridiculously priced.

What is a SEI?

Company out of FL that makes outdrives that look exactly like a Merccruiser. They have a conversion package for the Cobra (not the King Cobra). The price is right over a Volvo or a Merccruiser and I've heard good things about their reliability. I'd do the SEI investment before I'd put another Cobra on. That's what I'm going to when my Cobra dies.

They have a Cobra Conversion Kit and a 3 year NO FAULT warranty.

For 3 years, they cover repairs, even if it is your fault. If you run it out of oil and burn up the gears, (supposedly) your covered. Pretty sweet deal!

It's worth checking out.

They are a lot cheaper than the rebuilt ones you're looking at as well.

Ive got a 5.0 HO (302 Ford) with SX Cobra drive and it has 1.6 gears.

do you know the gear ratio of the cobra 5.0?

Just call SEI and tell them your set up and they'll get you the right gear ratio. If I'm not mistaken, you can enter your motor information on their Website and it will tell the gear ratio.
