Prayers going up. I did two tours and I know the pain of losing friends.
Hugs, tears and prayers are definitely needed right now.

A day does not go by that I don't think of our troops over there.

I will be thinking about you and your family in the coming days
and praying for the blessing of peace and strength.

Re: I lost my step-brother in Afghanistan friday

Thank you everyone for your support.
Here is a little update for those of you interested.
'Jimmy's' body is at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware undergoing military procedures. He is being Flown to the Cleveland area of Ohio for a memorial service because that is where is mother and siblings reside.
We are then having the honor guard transport him here to Winchester, KY which is where I along with his dad and other family members live. We are having the visitation at our church in town, and then he will be buried in Lexington Cemetery-which is what he wished for in his will.
In an interview with the Lexington Herald Leader, Tom, my step dad, mentioned how much he loved KY and KY Basketball-especially Coach John Calipari. Apparently, people still read the newspaper, because at about 11 this morning, Coach Cal called my stepdad. He just said how sorry he was for the loss and he wants the family to meet him at his house. Now that my fellow iboater friends is what I call a very, very respectful move on his part. He could have read right over the mention of how Jimmy loved him and never thought about it again. Rather, he takes it to heart and wants to honor my stepbrother. That is truly awesome.

Again, thank you all for all the warm thoughts. It means a lot in times like this.

As a 20 year retired army guy, and a patriot, I want to offer my most sincere condolences to you and your family, and that of SSG James Hunter.

Not a day goes by that I think about our troops over there fighting the war, while we go about our daily lives as usual.

Thank you doesn't do justice to the young people that are fighting for our country and sometimes losing their lives on foreign soil.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your step brother is a hero.

On the Saturday before Memorial Day, I put my only son on a plane (he was home on leave) to Germany, where his unit is now being deployed to Afghanistan. He is a member of the Army's 2nd Calvary Stryker Unit based in Vielsek, Germany. I feel your pain.

Im getting packed up and about ready to leave for Lorain County Ohio, where my brother graduated HS from (firelands). They are having a memorial service for him there tmrw from 12-4.
Then, the ohio patriot guard escorted by the state police will bring his casket to the first rest stop in KY. From there, the KY patriot guard, also escorted by state police, will bring his casket to the funeral home here in Winchester.
Visitation will be Monday night, with the funeral tuesday at Lexington cemetery.
This family has made it this far, but burying that young man is going to be very hard.

Thank you again for all the support.

Our sincere condolences to you and yours. It's nice to see that your state have arranged a fitting escort to return your fallen heroes to their home.
Here in Canada, approximately 100 miles of Hwy.401 has been renamed "Highway of Heroes", and all fallen soldiers have been escorted along this route, always with local police, firefighters, ex-service persons, and locals saluting from the overpasses as the procession goes by. A fitting tribute to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
Stay strong. Your family will need your support in the coming days.
