I lost my step-brother in Afghanistan friday

Guys I found out friday that my step-brother was killed in Afghanistan. He was on foot patrol with his unit when a bomb went off. At this point we don't know if it was a roadside bomb or IED. He along with another were killed, and several were seriously injured.
I am at a loss and we weren't even blood related. I can't imagine what his dad, mother, and brothers and sisters are experiencing. Even worse, he proposed to his girlfriend last Valentine's day.
I just don't know what to say to his dad whom i live with...
Please keep the family of Staff Sgt. James Hunter in your prayers.

My condolances. There is a great organization Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) that can help you out. A friend of ours got involved after losing her stepson in Iraq in a similar situation.

So sorry to hear of your loss. My families thoughts and prayers are with you and yours at this sad and difficult time.
Be there for them and the correct words will come out. Sometimes the correct words can be not speaking at all for a space of time and just "being there"

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Its hard to think of anything to say when circumstance such as this arise. Being there for support is really the best thing to do.

My brother was a Marine sniper, was in the Gulf War, Desert Storm, and various other duties along the way.

I thank him every day for what he did and I'm sure you could do the same in appreciating the sacrifices given forth.

A nice plaque or something would at least show ,by actions that you care, even if you cant think of words

BTW_ There are many families who are blended, and step brothers/ sisters/ aunts/ uncles, they are still family and losing them hurts.
