Could someone help me come up with possible reasoning why water got in my cylinders and then some? Factory dealer mechanic is giving up the case way too early accusing me of submerging my engine. No way! If that happened, I think I would know it and have greater issues. It's been to the factory dealer repair for oil change and carb clean once. However from the beginning it has been a little slow to start and time to warm up. This motor is under last 2 year GE Extended Warranty. Anyone with some help would be greatly appreciated.

2004 DF 9.9 Suzuki Kicker. My 140 and 21 foot Thunder Jet are just fine. No water in the fuel or oil. Enjoy the pics and always check for rust no matter what!

Contiued on next post!

there's corrosion between the water jacket and cylinder in one pic I'd say the gasket let go but it's hard to tell.

I'm not sure of your location? but there is always the possiblity that all the water never drained out of the block and it froze and cracked.

Thanks for the look. I did take notice of the rusting and possible lifting / seperation of the headgasket. I do live in Oregon where dealers keep boats outside all the time. I would rather think freezing is not the answer.

Question, what would be the signs and symptoms of a small leak and water was able to enter the cylinders around the head gasket if it were not sealed that well? I was also curious about the color of the rust. It seems to me the color is different. Could me contact with different metal. But could that mean there was more of a chronic small leak instead of a one time catastrophic event. The darker rust also looks like it is a little burned. Could combustion still happen with a small amount of water in the cylinders?

Thanks for your help!

The pic of the head shows you had water sitting in the cylinder at a level half way across the valve. a small gasket seep would not do that and the motor would not run with that much water in it.
In my opinion the water would have to get into it while not running and sit there for quite a while for this much damage to show up.
