Pretty new to this. Re-decked pontoon and putting it back together. There is about a 1 foot tube on steering mechanism. What is the proper way to fill it, and what kind of oil? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is what I think, it's not for oil. This would be where the end of the steering cable extends and contracts as you turn the wheel. Leave it as is.

It could be hydraulic steering and would be filled at the steering wheel. Should be a connection somewhere above the wheel on the console. If is hydraulic steering check with a dealer for type of oil.

Thanks for the replies. I will check with the company that I purchased the new cables from and see if they know what kind of fluid to fill it with.:)

It is not to lube the cable, it is to protect the cable as it moves in and out of the helm assembly.
