How long to give dealer?

If i have posted in the wrong place mods please move.

Want to keep this civil also.
So far the dealer has had my df140 for a good 4 and half months.
All they have checked so far is the compression and a quick analyze on the computer.

Ya , that seems a little long to me, is htere another place you can take it?

I would just show up and pick it back up and take it somewhere else and if they have the conjones to give you a bill I woud tak ea really long time to pay it.

Have you called them at all, what is there reason?

After 2 weeks I would have been on the phone with them everyday... That's just plain silly.

You need a diagnosis and timeline for completion of repairs within 72 hours of delivery to them in writing. If they are not agreeable then you are at the wrong place.

in my shop a preliminary diagnosis, is preformed with in 24 hours, and the owner notified.

Thanks guys.
There is another place to take it too.
They have had 2 boat/sportsmans show in town this past spring so all their people were at the show.
The mechanic is a really nice guy but the counter guy who runs the repair part of the shop is not easy to get along with.

I had to pay shipping into town and probably will have to pay back out.
Will wait till we get back from a important family trip to give them a hard time.
If we were doing fishcamp would be on their rears every week.
But with moms cancer some things things have taken different prioritys.

The shop is 400 air miles from me and $500 roundtrip by air.

Update

Dad went in to see the dealer as they called him.
Dealer said nothing is wrong with the motor and everything checks out.
But they did not run the motor under load to see what happens.

They also have no answers why the motor will over rev real easy with a 21 but only pull 5800rpm with 23 pitch motor and use fuel like mad.
Same for the making oil and blue smoke on start-up.

Should have the engine back in 2 weeks and will run the snot outa it.

Anybody have suggestions.

Sounds like you got a "wall job". They park it up against the back wall, and ignore it, then make up some story about running a few vague tests.
I'd be wanting to know exactly what the hold up was.

Sounds like you got a "wall job". They park it up against the back wall, and ignore it, then make up some story about running a few vague tests.
I'd be wanting to know exactly what the hold up was.

They will say they could not get too it because i did not get it to them last yr at freeze up.
Going to be interesting when it gets here.

Both Dad and i are not happy with what has gone on with the dealer.

AKmoose, it sounds like you might think about shipping to the lower 48 or even Canada. There are good shops who don't make you wait for a year for your engine.

The one I use for my evinrude work is Cliff Andrews Marine, Chickasha, OK 1-(405)-274-1081
