Any clue on how to test a coil? How about the ignition system from the switch.

97 Volvo 5.7GL (chevy 350). Looking to test the ignition system, coil and ignition control module. Coil is normal 12V with + and - terminal contacts.

Re: Coil test, ignition test

Remove the HV lead from the distributer, have the end ?" from ground.
With the key "on" there should be +12v on the coil + terminal.

Remove wire from - coil lead to distributor.
Take a jumper wire clipped to engine ground, and momentarily touch the other end to the - coil post. When you remove it, there should be a spark from the HV wire.

That will test the coil, but not the module in the distributor

What exactly is your problem? No spark?
Do you have the full model number of your engine? Need to know the letters folloing the 5.7GL.
