Hi everyone, I have a problem with my boat motor.

2006 25HP four stroke outboard mercury engine run great(5,000 RPM) until it seized in middle of the lake. There is no warning about overheated, or low on oil.

Try use electric starter, it wont turnover. I try use pull start and it feel jam. I have no idea what cause this seized. Thanks.

pull a spark plug out and check for water in the cylinder.........it sounds like you were running lean and it seized from no lubrication oil!!

Re: Mercury outboard motor seized?

I did took one spark plug at it time, and looks inside with a tiny bright light. I took out top cowl and the pull start off of the motor. I able turn the rotary thing by hands, I can see all of the pistons and valve moving up and down. I took off the propeller there is nothing inside that wrap around it. I put pull start back on, it jam as I try to pull it. I try use elec start, it wont turn over. I did check the fuse and it good. I will have to call boat dealer to have them look at it.

Sucked a valve or broke a rod... The dealer will tell you for sure.
