1986 Evinrude 30hp Mix ratio?? 100:1??

I know that that manufacturer knows more than me, I have had this motor sitting around for a few years. Just found a lower unit for it and got it together. I was gonna run it today but noticed a sticker on it saying 100:1 ratio only.

Is this right or did someone put this sticker on the motor?

50:1 - OMC changed the recommendation after your sticker.

They knew as far back as 1964 that they would run on 100:1 But they didn't dare say to do it because there was no safety margin at all. Then in 1986 they took the leap of faith and said to run 100:1 Sure enough, motors with oil failures started popping up all over the place. Remove that sticker and run 50:1

I know they can run on that, I used to have a 2 stroke atv that I used for drag racing and I used to run it on 114 octane with a 100:1 mixture.

I used to rebuild it all the time though!!!

So thanks for the info, I don't want to be rebuilding this one!!
