My friend fired up his newer Mercury 8 hp for the first time in two years. I'm not sure of the year, but the motor can't be more than 5 or 6 years old. He did not have enough water in the tank to feed the water intake. He ran the motor for about three minutes and turned it off. We filled the tank up and started it back up for about 20 seconds. It fired right up, but no water came out.
