Summer was come silent,is time to do something on my boat,i planning to do a xterm make over,i will try to post pic on every step i work, but some time too concentrate ,always forgot to take pic,

i start from the bow area , it is hard to take the bow cap out, after that i split the rub rail insert apart, unrivert all the rail to stern, this make it easy to replace transom.
take the steering away and unattached the motor.now i have a very clean hull to start with.

Frist i need to replace my transom,i ham the splash well tube out,and i use 2 hour to take the old transom out, can't take with one pieces.i just cut two 3/4' ply and willing to use PL4000 glue together, i am thinking of add an aluminum sheet to cover the expose area, otherwise water can easy to wet it again.

Yup, making great progress. This is fun. Keep us posted.

We love to know where folks are in general. If you go to your profile page you can put in a city, state if you want.

Sometimes we find fellow restorers right next door.

i take the splashwell and going to cut it shorter, the splashwell is important for the hull structure,i will have a deck extend the length longer than before to hold both side of the hull.

Re: starcraft hoilday 14 restore

Dirty job today , I glass the other side of the transom with glass matt, this is not easy than I though , it take 1 L to soak up all the Mat ,the resin dry up very fast, I must doing it very quick, but I am concern about the thickness after the glass, i don't know it will fit in the transom tray not not, looks like 1/4" increase , maybe need to sand down a little bit. Did people paint the transom after glass? if does , what kind of paint to use? I want it match my splashwell color, why Starcraft expose the transom out , it easy to geting wet? Why don't use a pisces of aluminum to cover it. Most other modren boat builder cover it all.

That extra aluminum will make for a super strong deck, nice work!

Re: starcraft hoilday 14 restore

Ok, after the transom is done,i put it back and then drill two more hole for the Live well intake and out.i also cut the splash well a little bit shorter, then build a deck extend to hold both side of the boat,it made it more stronger than before .
