1990 evinrude low fuel mileage

i fished a lake this wekeend called buckeye lake in ohio i went up and back 2 times and my motor used 17 gallons of gas. i knew it was bad but getting worse. i changed the pump ball and that is the only thing ive done different this year from last. going broke here thanks

what motor? how far? how long did it run?

sorry for the late response
its an xp 150 i went apprx 5mi wot then idle apprx 1/4 mi. i did this twice. i never had anything done to the engine and i have owned it for 4 yrs.the fuel mi. wasnt great then but it seems alot worse now thanks for any help you can provide

If the motor is making the HP, and this motor will make if in good condition. About 15 gallons an hour at full throttle. look for fuel leaks. VRO diaphram , carbs, hoses.
