It starts but only for 4 or 5 seconds idels kinda high then shuts off. Then wont crank until it sits for about 20 seconds 1973 evinrude just cleaned carbs almost like its starving for gas

Hard to help you without knowing anything more than the fact that the motor is a '73 OMC.

What model is it? What hp? Do you know the model number?

sorry 502 73c pretty sure, evinrude 50 horse power i had it a year ago sold it when i bought it back it has this problem

This is why model numbers are important - your motor is a 1972, not a 1973. The third digit in that model number indicates the year.

What do you mean when you say you "cleaned the carbs?" Did you completely disassemble them, including removal of the high speed orifices and the plugs?
