Model Number....What? Where? Why?

I have a 1993 50 hp Johnson Power/Tilt/Trim.........I can't find the model #........There is a silver tag ....or mirror color........but it doesn't have any numbers........they may have come off........I do have the ser #........is there a way to know the model number from the ser #?

I think I'm gonna need a motor for the tilt/trim unit. Also .........What should the trim motor test with a meter?

Dunno but if you put 12v directly to the tilt motor it should function, if not its dud.

The motor runs in each direction.......it seems weak when extending the ram .........it will run a bit then the heat circuit breaker will open till it cools a bit.............I think with this outboard this trim motor is wrong though......it has a 6243 and I think it should be a 6242........But I can't find the model #.........so I can't be sure................

dealer has access to the serial # list, it is not published to the public. call a dealer.
