throttle cable lubrication

I have read about the throttle cables needing lubrication, I have a merc Quicksilver unit monted next to dash, I removed the trim cover from the top and I can see some linkage and some white grease has been applied, I could do that easy enough, but I thought the cables themselves had to be lubricated, I went under the dash and found the cable ends they appear to go straight into throttle control thru long sleeves that don't look like they can be lubricated. Does the throttle control end get lubricated?
Thanks

Re: throttle cable lubrication

You can buy special lubrication products for motorcycles that attach to one end of a throttle cable.

Assuming that the cable itself (which is housed inside of a protective sleeve, like you saw) does indeed need lubrication.
Just be sure to tie a rag to the opposite end, since it tends to make a mess.

Im familiar with the m/c product but it would be difficult, however you touched on it may not needing lubrication at that end?

Marine cables are not able to be lubed. You just replace them if they have problems.
