:confused:Can anyone tell me what to do?
I have voltage at the I terminal when the key is in the off position.
Not supposed to have voltage till key is on right?
Which in turn my gas gauge stays on constantly.
All the wires at the key switch seem correct per the manual. The I terminal has a purple wire. It's on a 1993 bayliner capri w 120 force.
Where do i go next?
Thanks in advance

Re: Ignition Voltage with Key OFF?

I found the purple wire unpluged at the engine near the switch box. I can't find anywhere that it would go no other wires anywhere to plug it into. it does have voltage it comes from the wiring harness. Any ideas where it goes?
There is a purple wire from the stator or trigger cant quite tell, that is going to the 2nd post top right on the swichbox.

Re: Ignition Voltage with Key OFF?

i just working on rewiring not too long ago. If i remember right.

the purple wire at the motor is the tach wire. No need to connect if you dont have a tach.

lighter purple wire at the ignition switch is ignition wire, hot when on. shouldn't have power with engine turned off.

u need a new switch.

Re: Ignition Voltage with Key OFF?

Thanks for the replys.
I will try and get some pics this weekend.
I do have a tach and it is working properly.
The purple wire that i'm talking about is the ignition wire and is hot with key off i trace it back to the motor and its not pluged into anything.
I will try and replace the switch but it seems that purple wire from the I terminal should go somewhere.
Thanks again
