I've been working on this boat when ever I could get extra funds. It's been a two year process. I think I finaly have it all together, I bring it out on the water and neutral sounds puuuurfect. Revs fast all that, as soon as I put it in gear it goes a maximum speed of GPS-7mph. Any ideas?????

Also, I noticed I was dumping alot of fuel into the water, I took the cover off the motor and the lower carb had fuel coming out of the gasket and the tube. HELPPPPPP are these issues related, and what can I do!!?

Howdy Frantic.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Most outboards can sound great with no load and running with one or more dead cylinders.

Yes, I think the lower carb has a stuck float and is flooding half of the engine. That would explain no power from that end and all the unburned fuel.

You probably need to overhaul all carbs.

Good luck. :)

Ayuh,... Sure sounds like a Fuel issue,...
Probably otta start with rebuilding the Carbs, seeing as 1 is dumping fuel...

So I rebuilt the carbs and there are no more gas leaks but still no power. could faulty plugs keep the motor from reaching it's full potential? I'm freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
