I've got the complete water pump kit, not the problem. My motor is a Johnson GT-150, when I took the bolts loose it separated about 3/8" now it appears the only thing keeping the lower unit from coming on apart is the shift lever? Am I right about this? Does the shift lever have to disconnect where it attaches with a screw up underneath the powerhead and the carbs? If so it looks like a nightmare to get at with a screwdriver. Any help on info would sure be appreciated.
