Just put new Waterpump in. Have a question

I just installed a new waterpump in my 81 Pre-Alpha drive. I installed all the new gaskets and put a little lube on the impeller and turned the shaft clockwise as I installed the housing. I then tightened it all down.

My question is how hard should it be to turn the shaft after the installation? I have to really twist hard to get it to turn now. Is that just because it is new?

That is common...run it and don't worry as long as it cools good.;)

Thanks

I just wanted to make sure that I did not tighten the blots down too tight.

Forward nut= 35 to 40 in. lbs.

inch pound not foot pounds
in. lbs ft. lbs

1 inch pound = 0.0833333333 feet pounds
your talking about 3.3 ft lbs and less
