How many drain plugs?

How many drain plugs is in a 1993 Mercruiser 3.0L? I have heard of guys missing one and getting a cracked block.

The two blue hoses in the picture will drain the engine for winterizing...therefore, there are two on the port side of the engine.

My engine does not have the two blue hoses. I was told about that a while back but they were on a newer engine. Mine is a 1993.

Then simply look where these two hoses end at the block in the picture...the hoses are threaded into where the two plugs are located.

All I can find is one on the port side of the block lower back and one on the bottom of the manifold.

Ayuh,... Once you drain those 2 points,...
Pull the Big hose off the circulating water pump,...
That'll sometimes hide yet another Quart or 2 of water...
And, of course, the P/S Cooler, if so equiped...

Thanks Bond-O, You might have just saved my engine. I just bought the boat and it was winterized with antifreeze. I took it out to test it and naturally the antifreeze is gone. I live in Klamath Falls Oregon and we still have hard freezes at night here, probably through April.

.... Mine is a 1993.

Makes it a Gen II... Trim the leg up and down a few times. Cavities in those legs hold lots of water... and then leave it trimmed down, level with the ground.

Will a standard automotive $7.95 drain **** fit/work on a Mercruiser block & manifold?
