I have a 6HP 76 Johnson that I want to put a kill switch on. I have a good idea on what I need to do, just want to know what I need to ground.

It has points ignition. Do I ground the coils or the condensors (capacitors) to kill it?

The procedure would start with one wire going at each of the condensors. Then each wire goes to a normally open switch.

Thats it!!

Actually OMC used a switch to short the two points, on the condenser side, together and not to ground because it was a little cheaper. That way you only needed a single pole normally open monetary switch. If your going to short the points to ground you would need a more expense 2 pole normally open switch because you have to keep the 2 circuits separate for normal running. Works either way.

Ya sorry I used the term "grounded" I meant shorted, single pole momentary switch across the points to short the 2 out will work.

I just took what Xcusme said a bit farther.
