Here are two that quickly come to mind as I hate hearing them used many times a day . . .

1. "Having said that" . . . .

2. 'With all due respect" . . .

Any others you personally hate hearing????

I can't stand speeches of introduction that use.."Without further ado..."

Anyway, having said that, I gotta go.

"global warming" and "global climate change" One day we will laugh at this the way we laughed at the "ice age by the year 2000" that they taught us back in the 60's.

Many, but the first one that comes to mind is "At this(that) point in time..." instead of "At this(that) time..."

I think you meant "without further adieu" . . .

Not trying to be picky, but everyone knows "ado" . . . is a small deer :D :) :D

I used to really p*ss off my Wife when years ago I used to say to her the old "talk to the hand" :D

With all due respect, where to begin with this one?

"To be honest with you..."

What, you were lying this whole time, and now you're going to start telling the truth? Gee, thanks!

eclectic... I hate that word. I don't know, maybe it's the things/places that people associate with the word, but I hate it.

I used to hate the young turks in business, who used the term "paradigm shift." Way more often than not, the ones who used the phrase were completely full of crap.

Having said that ......

Re: I'm sick of hearing overused cliche phrases . . .

Used to have a VP that called any issue of opportunity "low hanging fruit"......"Can't fix the big problems until we get the low hanging fruit". Within a couple of months every wanna be in the company was saying it. Drove me nuts!!!!

Also used to have a counterpart that was very good at his job, but had his own version of the english language. Once we were in a small town that was in pretty bad shape. He meant to say, "This town is really decrepit". It came out, "Wow, this town is really decapitated". Another time we were in a meeting talking about headcount and staffing. One of the departments that I ran was a few people over budgeted headcount. Our VP asked what my plan was. Before I could tell him that I planned to cut heads through attrition Jimmy said, "Aaron, are you just going to cut it back through nutrition?". I said, "Yes, Jimmy I'm going to starve a few of them to death". He did this daily. We called them Jimmyism's!

Re: I'm sick of hearing overused cliche phrases . . .

I hate misused words.

To me, "impact" is a noun describing a collision. It is not a verb to replace "affect" (cause change). I guess many people use it because they don't know the difference between affect and effect (the result of affect). I would really expect a national network anchor to know the difference, but apparently they don't.

It is what it is - Don't know why, but it just bugs me. Lack of a good explaination I think.

When I moved th The Eastern Shore EVERYONE was saying "How 'bout it"
when they agreed with you. It bugged me to death. Now after 10 years it has become part of MY vocabulary. go figure

"actually". This one is becoming a huge verbal crutch. Watch Bobby Flay sometime. He's out of control with that one.
