I've run Tanaka's for years and if the recoil springs break near the middle you've got to find a new one, but if it's either end/tip that breaks you can just rework it a bit with a grinder or pliers and put it back together. Parts for these are getting a bit hard to find but if you Google up "Tanaka Outboards for Sale" there's always a few folks trying to sell them. I have one spare recoil spring in my tool kit but I better keep it for when mine breaks. Good Luck!

I have a "Aquabug" 1.2hp that is complete except the fuel cap over the carb, if you'd like to buy it for parts or even to run I'm sure it would be compatible with yours since they are made by Tanaka from what I've been told.

Or I could sell just the spring but I'd rather sell the whole motor.

I have pics of it if you want to see it.
