I picked up a nearly complete non-running Mariner Magnum 150 V-6. The Serial Number tag on the trim bracket is A115096. I cannot figure out the year from the charts recommended here on this forum. Maybe I am mis-reading or misunderstanding them, but is this a 1985 Model? Also, is this a 2.0L or a 2.4L? Are all the parts interchangeable with 2.0 and 2.4 V-6 Merc/Mariner 150, 175, 200, etc.?

Thanks

'85 2.0 150. Just about everything except block and pistons (175,200 are 2.4 motors).Your stuff will work in a 2.4 block with exception of pistons. But bolt on items from other motors (175,200) won't do much for performance if thats what your thinkin'................

I really got it just to swap out the power trim/tilt assembly to my 1988 Mariner Marathon 135HP 2.0 V-6, and just couldn't find the year of this 150HP Magnum 150. I'm also probably gonna save the switchboxes, coils, and misc. parts to keep as spares. I'll sell the lower unit, which is good for all the 2.0 V-6's, I guess, and would the lower unit fit the 175-200HP 2.4's also?

thanks for the info

I gotcha. All tha V6 gearcases will interchange, 2.0, 2.4, and 2.5. Not tha 3.4 or 3.0 motor...........

FYI. Tha '85 has a 9 amp stator, no regulator, different flywheel. '88 should had a 16 amp with a regulator. Tha 9 amp will run tha '88 but you won't need tha regulator with it.............All tha other 'lectrics will work.

Funny thing is that the ONLY parts not on the 150HP Magnum WERE the flywheel and stator. Good to know the coil packs and the CDI (switch boxes) are interchangeable. I was going to take the carbs and put them on mine, but I already have gotten a nice set of 3 from a 150HP, and am putting them on my 135HP Marathon, after I clean and re-gasket them. My trim is finicky on the Marathon, wherein it sometimes doesn't fully trim "in". Rather than rebuild it, I'm gonna swap it out. It's slopped up with bottom paint, too, and I'm repainting this one, and am repainting my whole motor, too, after cleanup.
