The 77 if i'm not mistaken has no points and uses a power pack.
Is there any way to check/adjust the timing?
I put new coil and anew powerpack on it and it seems to run strong and revs high once it gets going but also misses at idle and studders a bit as I increase rpm's, before screaming like a race engine.
I,ve heard that if you change the ignition system you should redo the timing.
Any tips or instruction would be appreciated.
Thanks alot
Chad

Timing on these motors as I know it is non adjustable. Your missing at idle and studdering sounds more like a dirty carb than an ignition issue. Throw a spark tester on it and check it if you doubt ignition.

Tear down the carb, making sure to remove the jet(s). Soak overnight in carb cleaner, blow out all passages with compressed air amd reassemble with a new carb kit which includes needle and seat and float.
