Hi,

I have a little used Mercury 3.6 (1982 vintage).
It runs well but makes an oily mess over the water.
I discovered that there's a fitting in the crankcase with a plastic tubing hanging.
I can't find where it must be connected.
Of course, there is a pulsating pressure out of the fitting since it's right on the crankcase.
The carb is a float type carb (old motorcycle type)
ANY HELP WILL BE VERY WELCOMED ! :)

(If you need pictures I think I can post them in a few days)

Could that be the pee hole for water pump indicator or is that in a different place.

Nope, there is no pee hole, and this particular fitting is at the crankcase, no emission of water, only pulsating air...
Thanks anyway

sounds like the vacuum tube for a fuel pump but I think that engine has an integrated fuel pump in the carb.

The carb is a float type not a diaphragm type, I can't figure why pressure is needed.....

Thats a bleed line for excess oil, however it does not show where it connects so you need to look for a small elbow that the hose will slide on.

On my 1975 7.5 hp Mercury, the bleed line has a fitting near the transfer plate cover (at least that's what I think it's called) and at the bottom of the powerhead. Any chance that your line would have a fitting near the "cover" on your engine?

Just to tell you that the problem is solved.:D
Thank you for your input guiding me where to look.
With good light I found the nipple at the powerhead.(photo 0052mod)
The misterious fitting is the one with the green tubing (photo 0056mod)
The fuel line is cut on purpose (I have to change it and install a fuel filter)
