Please help ID a 2hp Johnson, need parts and where to order prop

Hello Everyone,

I need help with the ID of the Outboard, its all black, looks like late 80's ~90s? It has labels that read 2hp Johnson, not sure if they are legit. I can find no model number or serial numbers anywhere on this unit.

I bought is off craigslist and it's hard a hard life, looks like its been salty for a good bit of its life, water pump still streaming, the only thing I had to do was cut a homemade gasket for the carb bowl as it was leaking everywhere. It starts on the first pull, good running little bugger, had it out a few times on Lake Alatoona.

Any information and help you can provide is greatly appreciated. I can take other pics if you need them.

If the motor is 2.0hp, then here are the models/years Johnson made a 2.0hp motor after 1970:

Johnson sold a 2.3hp motor from 1991 thru 1997 ... and a 2.5hp motor in 1987 and 1988.

Looks like my mid 90's 2.3 since yours appears to have a one piece cowl that lifts off to access the internals.
Does your motor have a powerpack?

From that list of 2hp models it must be the 1998/99 model as they are the only ones with a cover and the sliding throttle control on the front panel like that.
Actually looks very like a Yamaha .... re-badged perhaps ??

Thanks bankerjohn, Whoopbass, and Vic.S, I really appreciate you guys stepping up to help.

Whoopbass, the motor has a coil on the right side under the over, the I am guessing the other ignition components are under the recoil and flywheel, I am going to take another picture to post with this message to narrow it down even more.

Vic.S, it's possible its a re-badge, as it's not the typical build quality I equate with Johnson, although my experience is from the 80's with the larger motors, however I am sure the build quality must be a bit low to keep the suggested retails lower.

If you have time take a gander at the attached pics and see if that can narrow it down a bit more...thanks again for all your help, as I will not be able to buy any parts without knowing the make and model.

1985 models and earlier had coil and points ignition with all the components under the flywheel.
The later models had electronic ignition with the HT coil and I think the power pack under the cover

I now discover that basically the same model as the 1998 ones was produced from as early as 1993.

If it is a Johnson 2hp, rebadged or not, it is definitely a 1993 or later one, not an '85 or earlier.
All your pictures suggest that.

Same prop, part #115208, all the way as far as I can see. Available only from dealers, not direct though

I went and took a look at my motor and it's a 1995 2.0 Evinrude. I do have a 2.3 that's an earlier model then this.
It's identical to your motor so you can use my model number to get parts.
It's: E2ROEOB The first "E" is for Evinrude so you can start yours off with a "J" instead.
The build quality isn't there because these motors were made in Hong Kong.

In your 3rd pic that is the powerpack. I think I need to replace mine since I have no spark. $75 part that's impossible to find used.
