Re: transom and floor replacement

I have gottne alot done on the interior. All the upholstery is done except the front seats. I have had no luck finding seats so I am building my own. I am using the foam from the old back to back seats but built new frames which I stapled with 1 1/2" staples and my nail gun. Tomorrow I will coat them with CSM which my cousin had left over from his canoe building days. By adding the side supports it makes the seats very comfortable and firm. After glassing the frames I will add a layer of padding and wrap them in vinyl.

I also ordered vinyl graphics the other day which they will cut and I will apply to the sides, Dash, and transom.

Re: transom and floor replacement

Just send me your interior and some cash Bob. It hasnt been that hard. Just remove the staples, copy the plywood, and staple new vinyl to it. The seats I just took the old ones apart by cutting the thread with a razor blade and then trace them on the new vinyl and seaw it together. I was amazed a normal duty sewing machine went thru up to 5 layers of marine vinyl

Well, my friend you did a super great job. The boat looks awesome. I not sure I can even reuse mine for patterns. I'm thinking of redesigning the entire interior. Only the bow area will be the same. Sounds and looks like you did it the right way.
Once again,
Great Job.

Nice. That interior really pops. What a difference that updated interior makes. You're on the home stretch.

I just finished my seat boxes and bases as well and gave them a coat of epoxy today. Just waiting for the hinges to come in for final assembly and then on to saving some cash to finish the vinyl work.

The graphix will be a suprise but it was one of the first ones posted. Just kind of looked right and seemed to fit. Should be done early next week. The place doing it said if I pay to have them install them they will guarentee them forever. This includes fading, cracking, or peeling. I figure its worth the $60 because on a boat they will fade. I will post pictures when it is all done. They are also using the same vinyl for the state id #, the dash, and larson emblems.

Hey SKIBUM1M,
Looking forward to seeing the graphics. I have been looking for someone local myself. Hope all turns out great. It's well worth the $60.

Re: transom and floor replacement

The graphix should be here wednesday and finished by thursday I hope. I got my new bilge drain from ups today. My old one was ground down and the new one has a one way checkball in it just in case someone forgets to put the plug in. Not that anyone has ever forgotten the plug. Well worth the $10 for the piece of mind.

Great looking ride you must be busting at the seams. When are you going to come to Tennessee and make my junk look as good as yours?

Re: transom and floor replacement

I got 2 seat pedistals today and installed them. They are a bit high even at their lowest settings but I figure I will drive it before I cut them down. There is so much more room in the boat now with buckets instead of the back to back seats. Should be able to fit a cooler behind me nicely. The boat is wide enough to be able to turn the seats around and still have plenty of room to walk between them. Tonight I started detailing the motor. There is grease all over around the pivot and clamp but it is starting to look a bit cleaner. I will take and post a bunch of pictures when the graphix are done
