where to put boat serial number

My boat did not come with a serial number. I have since received the proper serial number on my registration. Where do the numbers typically go on a boat? I have heard somewhere on the transom.

Mine is on the inside of the boat in the engine compartment "inside transom". I wouldn't put it on the outside if thats what your asking?

Mine is riveted to the top port side of the transom.

Depends on boat i guess-
My bassboats plates have allways been on the outside of transom port side-

both my starcrafts have the serial numbers on starboard side of transome outside

It seems I heard everywhere except under the bow

I guess it does not matter. There is a capacity tag on the outside of the transome maybe it could go there.

Now does anyone have a way to get one made??
