1982 evinrude 115 tilt and trim

I am wondering how you check the oil in this thing? Is it side one the hardlines come out of? With a big flat head screw in like side closer to top?? Of so what kind of fluid do i add? And should motor be up or down when i fill it???

should be on the starboard side (right if you are looking at theback of the boat) and about midway up on the resivor. motor must be up and just use trim fluid. I have been told you can use atf but trim fluid comes in a tube and is easier to use.

so remove screw and just fill??? with motor all the way up??

Yes untill it runs out the hole. let it run out when it stops or gets close to stopping put the plug back in.

how can you fill it if the motor is down anyway?
