Merc 260M/carb Identification, part needed

My mechanic lost my choke vacuum break rod for my Rocherster quadrajet. The I.D. tag is long gone from the carb.
My engine serial number is 6817160 and the model is 02608344.
It runs well and he indicated that the rod isn't really necessary !?.
Does anyone know how I can determine the model of the carb and locate a
replacement rod?
Thanks in advance for any help. Jim

for my Rocherster quadrajet

Ayuh,... It's a Rottenchester.....
Over the years, Only the Rottenchester, then the Weber/ Merc. carbs have been used on the 260s...

What a resource! Bt Doctur, I really appreciate the help. I sent a PM.
You are setting a great example in sharing that we will all copy.
my boat is a 1983 Sunrunner 245, now in Conroe,Texas. It survived
Hurricane Ike and is on the way to being herself again.
Thank you for helping get my old boat back in the water.

Tell ya the truth, unless you boat in extremely cold weather, the choke isn't even needed. I even took off the choke plate and rod on my Q-jet about 10 years ago. I'm in the SF Bay area and it is usually cold and foggy here. No problems.
