When running well, you should see mid to upper 30s MPH with a light load. Make sure the boat isn't weighed down with waterlogged flotation foam, and that the hull is clean. Off the top of my head, I think the boat came with a 13" or 15" pitch prop; I'll have to look it up later when I have access to my '88 owner's manual.

my 1050 with a 5.0 omc I/O gets up to 38 with a full load, so over 40 empty i assume for me. Your engine is a little smaller, but I heard the 4 cylinder can still do 35+. btw, mine came with a 14 1/4 x 19 prop.

By doing a little math you can figure out (on paper) what it will do.

You need to know max RPM (Redline) for your engine, Prop Pitch and outdrive ratio.

Lets say 4600 rpm is redline and you have a 15" prop pitch, and a ratio of 1.8 to 1.

4600 rpm divided by 1.8 = 2555 (this is your final drive (prop) rpm)
2555 x 15" = 38325". (This is how many inches your boat can move in 1 minute)
38325" x 60Min = 2,299,500 (this is how many inches your boat can go in 1 hr)
2,299,500" divided by 12 = 191625' (this converts inches to feet)
191625 divided by 5280 = 36.29 (this converts feet to miles or 36.29mph)

Another factor is prop slip. Your prop will slip about 10-15% (I think) so,

36.29 x .9 = 32.661 mph for 10% slip.

Find out what your prop pitch, outdrive ratio and max rpm is.

Hope this helps.
