48 SPL spark plug

can someone tell me the differences in spark plugs......champioin QL78YC, QL77JC4, L77JC4. I cant find the answer to this. Ive asked local store but they dont know......Thanks

QL78YC is a surface gap plug, fouls easier, the QL77JC4 and L77JC4 at standard gapped plugs, which i prefer in my motors. the Q stands for quiet, it does not interfer with the radio, and electronics. use the QL77JC4 gapped at .030.

Sorry, but that is not correct.

The QL78YC plug not a surface gap plug. It has a regular gap and an extended nose for better low speed operation.

It is recommended for 1989 and newer 48hp motors (and almost every other carbureted looper outboard above 40hp)


The L78V is a surface gap plug

QL78YC is recommended, but i have gotten better service out of QL77JC4. but believe me Seahorse 5 has far more experience than i will ever have.
