115 hp mercury inline 6 wont run at high rpm

i just bought this boat a few weeks ago got the carbs set i have fire every where i checked the rectifier it seems to be working at first there was a wire from the idle stabilizer that was broke fixed it im at a complete loss on what to do now any help would be a great help

Depending on which ignition, how old of a system you have, DVA test the stator, or take along a timing light and watch to see if the timing light fails to light when the engine won't speed up under load, signaling a weakened spark.

Toby, It sounds like you have ADI ignition (6 coils). There is a stator test on the CDI Electronics web page

i was wandering if any body might know what ohm`s the coils are to be putting out and how to do a dva test on the strator i have a ohm meter but i cant find out what is good and what is bad thanks again everybody
