Ok here it goes. I have a 1986 Evinrude 150 with a VRO pump that already has the oil part disconnected and premixing the fuel. The problem now is that when it runs the VRO is leaking gas. I was told it needs to be replaced which would be a $300 fix. Anyone out there know cheaper alternatives. Thanks...

Ok after doing some more reading it looks like I might be able to ditch the VRO and just get a non-vro fuel pump? Any ideas? I would love to not have to spend 300 on a new vro.

If you are premixing already then you can either re-build the fuel side of your current pump or replace with a premix pump or pumps in the case of a 150hp
Both options significantly cheaper than a replacement OMS pump.

Vro Replacement Fuel Pump Kit "no Oil"
(for Using Oil/gas Pre-mix In Fuel Tank)

#5007422 it is in the $300 range.

$100 range but with the 150 you need 2 of them.
Part Number: 0385784
Description: FUEL PUMP AY
Pack Qty: 1
Dimensions: 3.50 x 3.50 x 2.25 (in)
Weight: 0.44 lbs
Equivalent Parts: 0395712,0398385,0433390,0438559

so you are looking at $300 to do it with the new pump, or $200 to shady tree it.

Why would it need two pumps? I talked with a marine mechanic and he didn't sound like it would require two pumps...
