Can the tilt and trim senders be installed without the removal of the bell housing? Do I have to disconnect all the bellows and bell housing to do this replacement? Thanks

It is an alpha 1 gen II, 1995.

Anyone ever done it like that? Any tips, advice, pitfalls? Should I just bite the bullet and take it all back apart? Keep in mind that I just replaced all my bellows about a month ago...I'm kicking myself for not replacing the trim senders too.

Just take your time. Youll need a set of 1/4 inch sockets, various extensions, and a quality, tight swivel. When you cut the wires at the sender/limit switch, tape the new wires to them so when you pull them into the boat the new wires come with them.

We usually just cut the wires and splice the new units on. Having said that...

If you use crimp connectors remove the plastic sleave and be sure to use shrink tubing over the connections. A dab of liquid tape under the heat shrink doesn't hurt either. You can solder them too. Just be sure to use a long enough piece of shrink tube for each wire. At least 2x the exposed legenth.
