Yes I would say that is about right. When you hold your hand there it should get wet fairly fast but you won't ever see a stream. Best practice is to get a temp. sensor ( infrared ) and check the head temp. or hold your hand on top of the head and if you can do a three count your cooling is satisfactory. Rick.

Only in your wildest dreams will the Evinrude 2hp blow out that much water. In fact, my experience with dozens of them is that they barely put out any water at all. It seems like it must just run down the inside of the housing and never gets blown out. OK, now somebody is going to come back and tell us how theirs blows out tons of water. Theirs it the exception.

Not only that, the cylinder head is not water cooled in the center, only around the edges. And the exhaust cover plate on the side is also not water cooled and gets hot as blazes.

Probably one of the most difficult motors out there to tell if it is cooling. The side opposite from the exhaust cover plate should stay reasonably cool.

Thanks guys Im kinda new to outboards, and have only ever used larger motors that look like they are taking a leak in the water
