1995 75 Merc. The solid tone alarm sounds at key on position and continues after starting. The impeller is working and blue/grey smoke is coming from exhaust. So I pressume that it is getting oil and is cooling. I am perplexed as to why the alarm goes off steady at key on position.
Thanks in advance. -Mason

The overtemp switch is easy to replace, but is your thermostat working. It may be stuck in the closed position.

Had the same problem and it was that the float in the oil tank was stuck all the way in the low position. Could this be your problem also? Fix was only to buy a whole new tank for my Merc.
