I have a 1973 65 hp Evin. with the thru prop exhaust,I can run it in the driveway with the hose and muffs, and it will idle all day long and start with a flick of the key.But put it in the water and I fight to keep it idling and have to use the warm-up level to start it every time.I've adjusted the screw on the carb linkage and can get it to idle in the water but after running it awhile, it goes right back to same way.Any ideas. TIA

Re: Idle question

Give The Carbs A Real Good Cleaning And Run Seafoam In Your Gas. Sometimes A Fuel Pump Can Cause Idle Problems.

Re: Idle question

Probably have a gummed up carb. Completely disassemble and go through every orifice with compressed air and a very fine wire.

Motors will usually run better on muffs because there' is no back pressure.

Re: Idle question

look in the TOP SECRET FILE lots of good info. idle speed has to be fine tuned with motor in the water and in gear.
