Hello I have a 1979 Johnson 55 hp outboard and I am getting 110 lbs on each cylinder. Was wondering if this is enough compression or do I need a overhaul?

Thanks
Robert

From what i've learned thats good - Better to have close to the same on each than a bunch here & there ;)

Cold or hot?

Mine are 110 cold, 135 hot so you pick up quite a bit having the engine warmed up.

Either way as stated you are fine, I check mine once in a while just to keep tabs on how the engine is doing.

Thanks for the response. Just wanted to make sure the compression was good before I do some needed work on the engine. The test was done on a cold engine.

Thanks again
Robert
