If the water came in thourgh the y pipe your riser's and exhasut manifold will show traces of intrusion or reversion...Instead of a nice sooty black there will be water traces.

Download service bulletin 2001-13 regarding water intrusion.

You'll see on p. 4 there is a section about boats that are beached. If you look in the exhaust section of your engine manual, it will give you a measurement between the riser and the waterline (mine is 13 inches: '95 4.3LX). If you raise the bow when it's beached and you don't have the min measurement, there is a potential for water intrusion. Ask me how I know???

Perfect!
Thank you very much, this explains exactly what happened to me.

And yes, if I had tools with me, I would have likely been able to get home on my main motor, instead, It took me about 1.5 hours on my 7.5 kicker.

I didn't think my bow was that high up on the beach, but it makes sense. My stern was definitely lower in the water than usual, and my leg was lifted, and there was current and wake from boats going by.

If I hadn't stalled the engine, I bet once I got the revs up, it would have blown out all the water anyway. It was a bit of a "perfect storm" of events.

Still a little uneasy about how water got into more than one cylinder, but hey, I'm 90% sure I didn't bend anything, so I'm happy.

And no, I haven't changed the oil, dipstick didn't look milky, I will change it before it goes out again though, just to be safe.
