I tow our Bayliner 1800 Capri w/90hp Force with our 2000 Chevy Venture. We are definitely in the minority around here. Most boats I see are being pulled by a giant SUV or full-size pick-up. The Venture pulls it well....boat weight was definitely a factor in purchasing a boat.....don't want to get big gas guzzler just yet.

Well, I have a truck now...but we used to pull our 1996 Glaston 185 with a 2004 Kia Sedona. You knew it was there, but towed it well. Braking however was a different story. It would brake fine, but, it would always warp the rotors over time. Just couldn't keep them cool...since we were occasional boaters, it wasn't a big deal.

So you're not a alone. I wouldn't not get a minivan again based on the boat I tow.

I tow an 89' Arriva 2050 with a 2005 Colorado Z71 2WD. I also tow a bass boat on occasion. The Colorado is a great towing vehicle. If I'm not mistaken it has the best combination of towing/fuel economy there is. Nothing can get 24 mpg hwy and tow a decent sized boat (not at the same time of course).

'86 F-250. SAS from Dana 50 TTB to Dana 60. Originally 351w/C6, now 460/ZF5. New engine has 400 HP / 550 ft/lbs.

While i dont have quite the truck the last guy has, very nice by the way. Mines a 02 f250 4x4. just a stocker with the V10. It can most things like the boat, the racecar, the house and the foundation if i ask it nice.

I tow everything from my boat to campers to bulldozers and other heavy equipment with my 2004 Dodge 2500 Cummins. This truck just laughs at everything I've thrown at it. I've even helped a friend literally pull a house off the foundation with it. Now granted the house had burned and was weakened, but it was one heck of a sight. A long chain ran through one window, looped around the rafters, and out another window and strapped to my truck. It squatted down and grunted until the house cracked and only a small quarter of it was still left on the foundation.

Oh, and the last time this truck was on the dyno, it made 507 hp and 979 ft/lbs. A little excessive, I know.

I tow our 20 ft Chris-Craft with our '06 Tundra. We just towed it from Charlottte to Lake Lanier and got 14 mpg.

I pull our 19' Stingray with my 08 Dodge Quad Cab 1500 4X4. It has the small 4.7 V8 and does just fine. Recently drove it 260+ miles on vacation and never had a problem. Dodges love gas though!

The gas engines sure do. My 1999 5.9L 360 V8 Ram 1500 averaged 8 mpg unloaded.

My diesel gets much better. Unloaded at 55 mph and with the power turned down a little, I average 20-21 mpg. At 70, I average about 18-19. Towing the boat I get about 16.

I just got my 1999 Princecraft a week ago, my 5th boat. I selected this model cause it was aluminum, but had all the comforts I like in a modern run around, with an open bow, outboard, and solid floor,, and it's light enough I can tow it with my 2000 Dodge Caravan. I towed her 75KM from the dealers, to my cottage up north, then another 175km to my house. No overheating, didn't work too hard, a little extra RPM and speed loss on the big hills, but she was very good. I've used 3 different rampsso far with no issues either.....

i voted other because i technically hav 4 wheels driving but its because i use a 2wd dually, 2002 ford, f350 lariat, 7.3 powerstroke, automatic

Boat is the lightest thing I tow.

I pull my 15' Tri-hull with my 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4cyl w/ auto transmission. I switch the overdrive off unless I am going down a long hill. It'll run faster than I wanna go, pulls straight, just have to manually shift it if starting off goin up a grade. The tricky part is stopping, just have to start stopping a little early.

My dad in the 80's had a Datsun pickup, 90 HP motor and 5 speed, pulled a 14' horse trailer with four horses in it AND an 18' horse drawn wagon, in tandom. Now THAT was a load!!!
